Morning, Open and Unleashed

Take the long way home

Take the long around

The Lab’s excited.

The day is still cool.

I should move, take his cue.

I should walk.

So, we do.

And take long way ’round.

Hill, valley and narrow curve

a solitary stretch

of random breeze on cheek from swaying tree,

and crossing scarlet birds.

Three of them,

on our morning walk, open and unleashed.
